Basically, a product is offered Free to Play (Freemium) and the user can decide if he wants to pay the money (Premium) for additional features, services, virtual or physical goods that expand the functionality of the game. This license is commonly used for video games and it allows users to download and play the game for free. There are many different open source licenses but they all must comply with the Open Source Definition - in brief: the software can be freely used, modified and shared. Programs released under this license can be used at no cost for both personal and commercial purposes. Open Source software is software with source code that anyone can inspect, modify or enhance.
Freeware products can be used free of charge for both personal and professional (commercial use). There are also slightly different installation instructions linked at the top of the page.Freeware programs can be downloaded used free of charge and without any time limitations. Then move this folder to your vehicles folder in VSF. Then copy the panels, instruments, weapons and other folders to the folder you just copied to your desktop. In that case, copy the contents of the boats folder to your desktop, it should be just one folder with the name of the ship. If you find a "boats" folder and maybe other folders, it's a VS boat. If you find a "vehicles" folder, simply copy the contents to your vehicles folder in your VSF folder. The self extracting files don't necessary work well for ships made for Virtual Sailor, but do if they're made for VSF. WinRar is free if you don't already have it. Then I right click and select "Open with WinRar" which gives me the contents of the download, even if it's an EXE self extracting file. I download and copy the file to my desktop. Follow the various links to find what you want. There is also a link on that page for Add-on Library. This takes you to the Virtual Sailor site where you can download ships the same way as above.
There are other links at the top of that page for additional boats and planes. Find one you like, click on the "download" link. Click on either Boats or Ships on the page that comes up. On the left side of the screen is a menu.
